These conditions apply to all participants of the 2023 Runway Run.
The conditions contain the instructions/rules.
When you register for the Runway Run, you declare that you agree to take part and follow these terms and conditions.
The Runway Run is organized by MAF UK and has two objectives:
Draw attention to medical flights that the organization carries out in the African region.
Raising money to carry out medevac/medical flights. If overall funds are exceeded, then donations will go to where is most needed.
The Runway Run event will be held at Turweston Aerodrome on Friday the 22nd of September at 6:00pm GMT.
2 – The Run
The Runway Run is an eight-lap running event of 1.25 kilometres on the runway at Turweston Aerodrome.
The Runway Run is not a competition.
The Runway Run must be completed within 120 minutes.
3 – Participants
Participation in the Runway run is done individually.
Minimum age to participate in the Runway Run is 13 years, participants who are younger than 18 on the day of the Runway Run declare by means of their registration that they have the consent of their parents/carers.
The organization reserves the right to refuse participants.
4 – Personal data
The data provided during registration is stored (securely) by MAF UK, by registering, the participant declares to agree to the privacy conditions of MAF UK and to receive relevant information about the work of MAF and the Runway Run. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
5 – Sponsorship and Donations
Each participant is responsible for raising sponsorship money. Each participant is expected to make an active effort to reach their sponsored amount.
Each participant will have their own Runway Run JustGiving fundraising page. All sponsorship money is paid/registered using the JustGiving page.
The sponsor money will be used for medevac/medical flights in the African region. If overall funds are exceeded, then donations will go to where is most needed.
Costs incurred by the participant, including sports equipment, clothing, and travel expenses to Turweston Aerodrome, cannot be charged to the organisation.
6 – Safety and Liability
Participation in the Runway Run is entirely at the participant’s own risk.
The participant realizes that the Runway Run requires a physical and mental effort. By registering, the participant declares to be mentally and physically able to participate in the Runway Run.
By registering, the participant declares to indemnify the organization against any liability for personal injury or damage to personal belongings that arises during the Runway Run as a result of insufficient fitness and/or health or overestimation thereof, deliberate disregard of instructions, disregard of government measures and/or or applicable regulations at Turweston Aerodrome.
The participant must take care of the necessary equipment, prepare well for the event, and must assess prior to the event whether they are physically and mentally able to participate in the event. If the participant violates provisions of these terms and conditions, the participant is liable for the damage that the organization suffers as a result.
The organization makes every effort to ensure that the Runway Run runs safely and correctly, which means a risk assessment will be done prior to the event and public liability Insurance will be in place.
7 – Media
Participants may be photographed and/or filmed. If the participant does not wish this, he/she must indicate this to the organization.
If the participant does not object, he/she hereby gives permission to the organization that recordings can be used for publicity and/or promotion of the work of the organization and the Runway Run in particular. The participant will not receive any compensation for this.
8 – Force majeure
In the event of force majeure in the broadest sense of the word, including in this case bad weather conditions, (natural) disasters, political unrest, strikes, epidemics, lockdowns, state of emergency or use of the runway for excepted air traffic outside the opening hours of the runway (such as military or medical emergency flights), the organization reserves the right to move the event on the same day or to another date, to adjust regulations or to cancel the event.
In case of cancellation of the event, no refund of the sponsorship money will be made, and the money will still be put towards the intended target.
