Jenny Davies

After eight years as Communications Officer for MAF UK in Folkestone, Jenny is now working in Juba reporting on the impact of MAF’s busy flight programme in South Sudan.

She meets with MAF’s partners and interviews the extraordinary people in remote communities; sharing their stories and encouraging supporters to pray.

Background

Jenny was introduced to the Holy Spirit through the witness of a Scottish SAMS missionary during a gap year in Chile when she was eighteen. Having grown up in church, she travelled halfway around the globe to meet Jesus personally and get a glimpse of His heart for a beautiful and broken world.

Returning to the UK to study history at the University of St Andrews, Jenny made the most of student life and spent many happy hours walking her dog on the town’s stunning beaches – travelling whenever the opportunity arose.

Moving to London after university, Jenny had the opportunity to witness the power of the Gospel to transform lives working with Christian homelessness charities. Roles with Trinity Homeless Projects and West London YMCA brought her into contact with people from every walk of life including refugees and asylum seekers and opened her eyes to social problems including drug and alcohol addiction, homelessness and teenage pregnancy. These encounters ignited a desire to share the stories of ordinary people who are transformed to do extraordinary things for God.

Jenny’s MAF journey

Changing careers in 2011 brought Jenny to Kent where she started working with MAF UK, moving into her communications role in 2013.

MAF’s practical ministry, which reaches isolated people in some of the remotest communities on earth, flying for the least and lost and for those requiring urgent medevac flights, resonated with Jenny, as does MAF’s professionalism and values of impact, witness, excellence, partnership, stewardship and care.

Hearing about the many ministries and organisations that benefit from MAF flights continues to excite Jenny and motivates her to find new and creative ways to put MAF’s impact into words.

A trip to Chad in 2017 provided a first taste of the challenges of field communications in the mission environment and convinced her of their value and need; setting Jenny on her current path.

Recently, the beautiful Kent countryside has provided the perfect backdrop for a developing interest in photography – a skill she is now mastering in South Sudan, along with her passions for mission, travel, and digital communications.
