Ed and Kathy Burrows

Background

Ed’s passion in aviation started during secondary school with Air Cadets. It was during this time that he first heard about MAF through one of their speakers at a local church. Ed continued his enthusiasm for aviation and the military by joining the University Air Squadron whilst studying at Durham University. After university, Ed joined the Royal Air Force and served with them for the next decade and a half, flying both helicopters and fixed wing aircraft both in the UK and overseas. Kathy has always had a passion for tackling poverty and injustice, which led her to work for various charities. Kathy has been on several short term mission trips to different countries around the world and first heard about MAF when volunteering overseas in Uganda. Ed and Kathy discussed the possibility of working for a mission organisation, like MAF, just before they got married in 2015.

Our MAF journey

After marrying and moving to Hampshire, Ed and Kathy talked again about the possibility of working for MAF but Ed had a long journey transferring over from helicopters to fixed-wing aircraft and getting all the civilian licenses. Seven years since their initial conversation with MAF, they are now preparing to go to MAF Liberia with their two children, Nathanael and Eliana.
