‘Lule, you’re not going to die’

Pastor Joseph Lule (pictured on the right) leads Omega Healing Centre Church in the small fishing village of Lwanabatya. Just before Christmas, he sent us this:

‘We set off from the island at 11pm and, at the middle of the journey, strong winds came with rain. The accident happened at 5am and people were screaming for help. But a voice told me, “Lule, you’re not going to die.”

‘After the boat capsized, we spent close to two hours without help before ten of us were rescued. Unfortunately, many of our friends had already drowned.’

Tragically, 25 villagers lost their lives in that terrible storm. Please pray for their families and friends who’ve suffered such an enormous, traumatic loss.

Lwanabatya village is on Bukasa Island which is the only island on Lake Victoria where we can land a plane.

To share the love of God with thousands of isolated people, evangelists flying in from the Uganda mainland must then travel by boat from Bukasa to reach the many other islands on Lake Victoria.

When the boat capsized, Pastor Joseph didn’t give up hope of rescue.

He’s still leading his church because he knows you won’t give up on the people of Lwanabatya, and countless others living in remote communities worldwide.

Thank you for your unflinching courage in the face of stories like the lake tragedy.
