Ken’s first exposure to overseas mission was in the mid-90s when he was a management accountant for a Christian charity in Egypt. While there, he was significantly impacted by a speaker at a spiritual retreat who talked of the great need for accountants and other professionals to help missionary organisations be good stewards of their resources.

Ken felt very clearly that he was being called to return to the UK to gain additional professional experience to prepare him to return overseas. When he returned to the UK, he felt guided by God to find a job specifically in Oxfordshire and it was here that he met his future wife Maz.

Maz had recently returned from her second period of overseas mission, this time in rural Malawi. Their shared passion meant that they made lifestyle choices which they trusted would one day allow them to return overseas for a number of years with their three children Audrey, Elijah, and Edith.

Our MAF journey

Prior to joining MAF Ken had 16 years’ senior management experience, the last 9 of which were as Finance/Corporate Services Director of a national Christian charity which works with ex-offenders. Although it was difficult leaving such a great role, Ken and Maz firmly believe that God provided this exciting opportunity with MAF to help fulfil their calling.

Now based in Nairobi, Ken is responsible for the finances and human resources of MAF in Kenya, to help ensure that MAF can reach as many isolated people as possible.  As well as caring for their own children Maz is helping other children in East Africa flourish as the Director of a boarding school and through doing a masters degree in dyslexia.
