Impact Foundation in Bangladesh is working to improve the lives of the rural poor - preventing the causes of disability by raising awareness, and providing education, training, medical services and programmes to help provide people with a sustainable livelihood.
'The support of MAF is very important. If MAF was not with us, we would not have dared to come to such remote areas. MAF carries the surgeons and medicines from Dhaka in the quickest time. We are in a very remote area with poor communications, so their support is very important. One of our criteria in selecting a project is whether MAF can land or not. Thank you very much for your support for MAF UK.'Mr Ikhtiar Shawon, Impact Foundation
One third of Bangladesh is covered with water. Impact Foundation’s answer to providing medical access in hard-to-reach areas is their mobile floating hospital, the Jibon Tari.
MAF’s amphibious Cessna Caravan is the only floatplane in the country. It regularly supports Impact by shuttling medical supplies and doctors to and from their floating hospital. This saves them a challenging and tiresome journey by land and boat, enabling them to treat more patients.
'The time good surgeons have in Dhaka is precious. Travelling can be very tiring. It is good with MAF. The surgeons arrive comfortably, giving some of their precious time to us.'Mr Ikhtiar Shawon, Impact Foundation
