Legacy FAQs

Thank you so much for thinking of MAF. Legacies from caring supporters like you make a huge difference to our work, funding one in ten of our flights.

Legacy FAQs

How will my gift be used?

Your kind gift will help MAF to continue to reach isolated people in remote communities all over the world. It will help bring help, hope and healing; transforming lives.

And if you don't limit your gift to a specific area of work it can be incredibly helpful to us – your gift can go wherever it's needed most.

If you would like to discuss leaving your gift to MAF, please email Miriam Wheeler or phone us on 01303 852819.

Do I need a Will?

Surprisingly, many people die without making a Will. This is called 'being intestate'. As a result, your estate may not go where you would have wished, which may cause some tricky problems for those closest to you.

By making your Will now, you can be assured that your estate will go exactly where you want it and that your loved ones will be provided for.

What kind of gift can I leave?

A share of your estate

Residuary legacy: once you've provided for your family and friends, you could leave a share to MAF.

A specific sum of money

Pecuniary legacy: if you would like to leave a specific sum, you can specify this in your Will.

A specific item

Jewellery, a painting, any item that you think will be of some value to MAF's work when sold.

Do I need to involve a solicitor?

By using a solicitor, you can be sure that your wishes will be carried out properly. For simple amendments to an existing Will, you may only need to fill out a codicil form (available below). But for significant changes, it's best to speak to your solicitor to ensure your intentions are carried out.

Do I need to tell you if I've left a gift?

Each and every legacy is a blessing and we would love to thank you for your partnership.

Can I change my mind?

You are free to change your mind at any time. Your Will is personal and we fully understand this. Just because you have let us know that you plan to leave a gift in your Will to MAF doesn't commit you to doing so. If you do change your mind, we would really appreciate you telling us so that we can amend our records.

Already have a Will?

If you already have a Will and want to leave a gift to MAF, all you have to do is fill out a codicil form. Simply download the form, or we can send you one, and once it's filled in, keep it with your Will. Don't forget to get it witnessed.

For more significant amendments, please speak to your solicitor.

Acting as an executor?

If you are acting as executor for the estate of someone who has left a gift to MAF in their Will, please contact our Legacy Administrator Juliette Chwalibogowski by email or phone us on 01303 852804.

She will be able to provide any advice or assistance you need.
