Ben and Esther Brown

Ben and Esther have both long felt a calling to serve God in the mission field. They have supported the work of MAF for many years and could see a clear link between Ben’s aviation management and leadership experience and MAF’s need for managers. The couple have clearly seen God at work in their MAF journey so far and feel blessed to have the privilege to serve the Yolngu people and team in Arnhem Land.

Background

Ben grew up wanting to be a pilot and work in aviation. As a young boy he saw a MAF poster in church and told his mum that one day he would like to work for MAF. God has led him on an incredible journey since then and built on his passion for aviation and desire to serve the world’s most vulnerable people. He feels incredibly blessed that the calling he felt all those years ago is now being fulfilled.

Ben’s path to MAF has seen him complete an MA in International Relations at the University of St Andrews, and then join the Army as a pilot. For 14 years he flew helicopters and fixed wing aircraft around the world, whilst holding a series of senior management positions.

Esther was born to, and raised by, OMF missionaries in Japan and attended Hebron School in India. She came to know Christ at the age of 8. During her years at Hebron School, Esther felt God’s calling to mission. After graduation she completed a DTS with YWAM during which she took part in an outreach in Siem Reap, Cambodia. After DTS Esther took another gap year to do a missions trip working with victims of human trafficking and prostitution in Cape Town. Once back in the UK she completed a BA in Fine Art, lead the Christian Union for 2 years, and has since been self employed as a professional wildlife artist.

Ben and Esther met at church and got married in 2015. Since then, thanks to Ben’s work, they have moved 5 times and attended as many churches. The family was joined by Barnabas in 2019 and Reuben in 2021.

MAF Journey

Ben and Esther have both long felt a calling to serve God in the mission field. They have supported the work of MAF for many years and could see a clear link between Ben’s aviation management and leadership experience and MAF’s need for managers. Shortly after getting married, they decided upon a plan to leave the military and work for MAF at the first point Ben could leave the Army.  The couple have clearly seen God at work in their MAF journey so far and feel blessed to have the privilege to serve the Yolngu people and team in Arnhem Land.
