Matthew Veale

Background

I grew up in a Christian family in the south-west of England, and have trusted Jesus as my Saviour for as long as I can remember. I attended a Christian school from the age of 10 where my faith grew and I was introduced to international missions and MAF. Aviation has always been a passion of mine. I have taught English as a foreign language since 2017, both in person and remotely, to students in various countries around the world. In January 2021 I took the exciting step of joining MAF’s Engineering Training Scheme and begun studying Aircraft Engineering and Maintenance at the University of South Wales in September that year. After completing this I will need two more years of practical experience in the UK, to gain my license, when I will be able to move onto a live programme with MAF.

I learned about MAF when I was young teenager and knew that I wanted to be involved in the work to bring the light of the Gospel to the farthest parts of the world. My first experience of international missions was in India in 2013 on a school mission trip, which made a big impression on me. Although I initially wanted to join MAF as a pilot, my journey has led me to join MAF’s exciting, new Engineering Training Scheme, about which I am very excited.
