Desperately seeking help, young Ngiro crossed the border from troubled Sudan into Uganda. He reached Kaabong with a malignant tumour on his face, growing at great speed. And a plane sped to the remote spot in the far north with the vital medicine for chemotherapy. ‘Ngiro had Burkitt’s lymphoma,’ Dr Pearce explains. ‘But with the chemo, the tumour simply melted away.
