Emergency relief
After rats destroyed the rice harvest in Long Layu, Kalimantan, MAF flew rice to the village, avoiding the real danger of starvation.
MAF also supports the village with emergency flights. One villager describes how, without the plane, it would take a month to do a journey that takes one hour by plane due to the mountainous terrain.
Providing communications
MAF's team erects a HF radio mast in the remote village of Long Lebusan, Kalimantan. This means they are now able to communicate and can now contact MAF in an emergency, and to keep pilots up to date with the local weather conditions. Without the mast, they would not be able to make contact as they are no mobile phones here.
