Turkana pastoralists fight for resources

Severe drought in north-eastern Kenya is exasperating armed conflict among Turkana pastoralists.

The Turkana are highly dendedent on their cattle, often their only assets and as a source of nutrition. Reduced pastoral lands as a result of the drought means that cattle are dying, and as a result there is an increase in cattle raiding.
