While the world’s attention is focused on the dramatic influx of hungry Somalis arriving in Dadaab refugee camp, and the famine situation in Somalia, there is a forgotten region also affected by widespread severe malnutrition.
The suffering in the Turkana region of north-western Kenya, spread across hundreds of miles of remote villages, isn’t quite as obvious.
However, the region in an already arid and barren environment, is also affected by prolonged drought. With many Turkana villages inaccessible by road, it is hard to reach the most vulnerable people.

MAF's aircraft have been frequently flying to the region for years, supporting relief, mission and development agencies working on the ground.

Pray that the world will wake up to the dire situation in the Turkana region.
Pray particularly for those living in the more remote communities who are suffering from the effects of the drought. We ask for the Holy Spirit's comfort for those who have lost loved ones.
Pray that food will reach those suffering from severe malnutrition, and remember that those who have lost livestock and their livelihoods.
