Reaching remote herders

Believers in north-eastern Kenya

MAF UK, 4 OCT 2010 - Herding communities in north-eastern Kenya received Christian love and support when MAF flew an outreach group more than 250 miles from Nairobi.

Our aircraft took the Pastoralist Outreach Programme team to Marsabit, where they spent three weeks visiting local communities to share God’s love and encourage local believers.

In one village, the group met a woman who last year had serious cancer. The team prayed for her during a previous visit. Today, the woman is fully healed. ‘As you can see, God healed her and she cannot stay silent,’ reports Cecilia Sube, mission co-ordinator. ‘She has opened up her house for fellowship since there is no church nearby.’

In another village, the team met Oyo, a man who was possessed. Uninvited, he walked quite a distance from his native village to this specific one. He came forward for prayers and received deliverance. Two days later, he returned with his mother, who testified that Oyo was a changed man and she too wanted to receive the peace that her son now had.

A three-day workshop was held for the young believers to empower them and teach them how to live for Christ. After learning how to share the Gospel with their neighbours, the attendees shared the Good News with a man living in the street. He gave his life to Christ, and later joined the team by sharing his testimony.

The team also established a sanctuary where the new believers could meet for prayer and for church services.

Pastoralist Outreach Programme is planning to take a team back to Marsabit soon and for the rest of the year to follow-up on their visit.

We take this opportunity to thank you for providing your services in enabling our mission to take placeCecilia Sube, mission co-ordinator
