Today, unimaginable suffering, over 1.1 million displaced people, continued violence, disrupted livelihoods and the repercussions of no harvest threaten this already shattered nation.
Since MAF began flying in South Sudan in 1950, we have seen great need, ongoing unrest and suffering, and the need for God’s peace and reconciliation. Will you pray for this nation?
UN humanitarian update - UN OCHA reports of growing unrest, increasing number of displaced people and a rise in malaria due to the rainy season.
Political groups fail to agree on a deal - The rebel groups fail to sign a deal which aimed to end conflict within 45 days.
Cholera outbreak in South Sudan - Thousands of people have been infected. If untreated, the disease can be fatal. The outbreak also adds to a growing hunger crisis in the country.
Hunger 'to affect four million' - British aid agencies warn of critical food shortages in parts of South Sudan, after months of fighting has prevented farmers planting or harvesting crops.
What can I pray for?
Please pray for the people of South Sudan, for MAF, and for the many organisations striving to meet such overwhelming needs.
