Sixty-year old Nibol had been blind for 20 years due to cataracts. Her 12–year-old granddaughter Nyabel, instead of going to school, cared for her grandmother, cooking, cleaning and fetching firewood.
Nibol and Nyabel walked for four hours to reach the eye camp, where Nibol underwent surgery. Two weeks later, upon removal of the bandages, Nibol saw her grandaughter's face for the first time.
Although her age means she has to wear glasses, Nibol can now start caring for her grandaughter, and Nyabel is free to go to school.
