Extract from report from allAfrica.com:

Apart from arid areas, there has been a slight drop in the cost of basic foods in other parts of the country. This can largely be attributed to the entry into the market of food harvests from the long rains season.

This, coupled with forecast of good short rains in the remainder of the year, are welcome developments. But this must not lull the region into a false sense of security for two reasons.

First, because more than half of the country is still facing hunger, and second, because experience has taught us that this could be a temporary reprieve.

Luckily, the drought that is still ravaging parts of the country has galvanised local, regional and even international response to the crisis in search of short and long-term solutions.

Pray...

Give thanks for the harvest that has been grown in spite of dry conditions, and that some parts of the country has received some rainfall.

However, with more than half the country at risk of hunger, pray that people will receive the food they need for their families.

Pray too for wisdom to tackle hunger issues in the longer term.
