Jan Corrie

Area Representative -  Lincolnshire.

I first heard about MAF when speakers came to address our Ladies Group at church  in Andover, Hampshire around 1996 and I became a supporter, keen to stay linked to a Christian organisation active in so many ways and places.

I moved to Lincolnshire in 2007 and was approached to act as an Area Representative there.  After some training and guidance I started to offer speaking engagements within 45 minutes drive of my village home and, despite some anxiety, realised that I really enjoyed telling people about the work of MAF.  The more talks I give, the more I  feel my enthusiasm for the work of MAF grow.

The Volunteer support team  provide excellent resources (Power Point presentations, short films, pictures and press releases) and regular updates on MAF’s operations.

The assortment of resources means that I am never at a loss for material for presentations, whether it be to a Women’s Fellowship group, the local WI, a company of Scouts or an Air training Corps.  With the launch of  Above and Beyond  (the young person’s branch of MAF) material tailor-made for children and young adults is also there to enthuse the audiences.

In addition to going out and speaking there are opportunities to meet other MAF volunteers at the national and regional conferences – an excellent opportunity to learn from others and to share our enthusiasm for the work of MAF.

I can manage the work very much to match my lifestyle – fitting talks in around part time work and other interests and I feel supported but never pressured to share the work of MAF.

I can thoroughly recommend the role of Area Representatives to others.
