Frequently asked questions

Do you have a question that you would like to ask MAF? Perhaps your question is amongst the most frequently asked below:

How much money is being spent on internal costs compared to going to the cause overseas?

Approximately 80% of all charitable giving goes directly to our operations overseas, enabling help and hope to reach remote or inaccessible places. The rest is used as a resource to enable us to raise awareness and generate funds.

How many aircraft does MAF fly?

MAF operates more than 120 light aircraft in over 35 countries, ranging from the Cessna 206 to the De Havilland Twin Otter. Every 3 minutes, an MAF plane is taking off or landing somewhere in the world to assist aid and development agencies, missions, churches and other national groups.

How can my skills be used to help MAF?

MAF is always in urgent need of technical aviation staff, such as pilots and aircraft engineers. However, there are a wide range of other skills that can be useful to us, including IT and finance professionals, admin and managerial roles. To find out more about serving overseas, click here.

You can also consider joining our team of Volunteers, representing MAF in your local area or church.

Do you have any materials for young people/children?

Check out our exciting new youth initiative, called Above & Beyond.

Note that we currently only have a limited amount of materials for young people, but we are in the process of developing a new range of products to help engage the youth in MAF and mission work.

Do you charge for your flights?

Normally, our passengers pay a highly-subsidised fare towards the true cost of each flight. The balance that makes flights possible comes as gifts from people concerned that others should have a better life spiritually and physically.

I have some books/blankets etc for use in Africa - can you transport them?

I'm afraid MAF does not have the facilities to transport donated goods from the UK to Africa.

However, if you have items within any of the countries in which we operate that you would like MAF to transport to isolated areas, we may be able to help. Please contact us.

I don't seem to have my prayer diary for the current month - please could you send me one?

If you didn't receive a copy of our prayer diary within the latest MAF News, please contact us, and we'll send it to you.

Alternatively, you can download our latest prayer diary here.

How do I update my address details?

Please inform us if you have changed your name or address, so that we can keep our records up to date.
