Gladness Materu, Guesthouse Manager

6:30am Wake up this morning - sit on the bed I pray for 2mins myself because my husband was not around; he went to Dar. I miss him very much but I expect to return on Wednesday.  After that I took a shower and I asked my house helper to prepare my son Brian for a bath and to give a cup of tea before I take him to school.

7:40a.m I drive a car to go to school (CAMS). It only takes 5mins so at 7:45 I was there.

8:00am Joined with other staff at morning devotion at hangar.

8:20am I went to the gate to get the keys and to whether anyone has stayed without booking in and whether they need to pay or any help from me. The keys are all there however, so I take them all with me.

8:25am I went to guest house and opened the door. We have a group of 7 people from Canada from “For the love of Africa”. We greet each other and I ask if they need any help from me but they say no.

8:30am I open my office, turn on the computer and check and reply to all the email.

Guesthouse

9:00am Marieke Verboom come to me to pay for the accommodation for her 3 friends that stayed over the weekend.

10:00am It was tea break - I took a cup of coffee with a piece of bread.

10:15am preparing a bill for payment for “For the love of Africa” for accommodation,  breakfast, washing machine, food and soda.

11:00am I took the bill to the team leader, Mr. Paul Berthelet, because they are going to leave tomorrow. He promised me that they will pay today after lunch I continue with washing sheets with Merry and put them on the line.

12:15pm I went to town it was lunch time I went to the bank to send money to my husband with my friend Priscilla. We pass Jacana pack and took a vegetable kiti Moto (Pork) for    lunch.

1:15pm  Removed the clothes from the line and put back in the right place.
             Put milk in the container in the fridge.

2:45pm Settle account with Mr. Paul. He paid the amount of 1,115,000.

3:20pm  Went to accounts to settle account with Cecilia and bring the receipt to Mr. Paul.

4:00pm  Started to prepare the food for sale -  it was sausage, cheese and butter  so I cut it into small pieces and I put to the freezer

4:45pm Phoned Faraja, our receptionist, asking for any new bookings before taking back the key to the gate

4:50pm Took keys to the gate for people who would be checking in the evening.

5:00pm  Switched off my computer this is the end of the day  at MAF, but I go to town to bring some material for seat covers from my chairs..

5:45pm I go to the meeting for my friend’s wedding until 6:30pm

6;40pm I was at home took a shower played Jigsaw with my children and they wanted yogurt I gave it to them. I prepare a Tanzania delicious food and  we eat together.

Then I helped Brian his home work her teacher gave him and we ask all to come for evening prayer and then we go to the bed.
