Flying Flame in Southern Sudan

A recent MAF flight, from our Uganda base into the Nuba Mountain region of Sudan, enabled a team from Flame International to minister to hundreds.

80 pastors of the Episcopal Church of Sudan received a week’s teaching and prayer during the team’s visit. Many of the pastors work in very difficult areas. As the Flame team shares:

The pastors, who have lived with serious war trauma for over 22 years, were extremely hungry for the teaching, really grasped our dramas and had a desire to have greater understanding. We are confident the Lord heard their prayer, and in line with 2 Chronicles 7:14, will heal their land.

The team also visited a military camp, where they had the opportunity to minister to over 700 soldiers.

As they report,

It was an extraordinary time. The soldiers arrived running in squads of about 200, each causing a dust storm, and then settled down to listen intently to the teaching and dramas. It was a surreal moment as they arrived and we saw the Lord bring the men who he wanted to attend and hear the gospel and then respond. Many made a commitment to Jesus, forgave people and were healed. Bibles were given out and we prayed for hundreds of them.

Despite vehicles breaking down and long night journeys on unbelievably difficult terrain, there was rejoicing in God’s goodness to both the Nubian people and to the Flame team:

We are full of faith with how the Lord has touched and changed people's lives.
