Work with MAF as a Engineer

MAF UK recruits for Aircraft Maintenance Engineers and Avionics Engineers. An ICAO based aviation maintenance licence is the minimum requirement for all aviation maintenance engineer roles. Candidates must also be able to demonstrate practical aviation maintenance experience, ideally over 2 years. They will need varied experience with small aircraft, piston and turbine experience on airframes and engines is preferred. Engineers report to the Chief Engineer.

Experienced level engineers will need to meet the minimum requirements and in addition have 3-4 years of practical experience and evidence of completion of manufacturers courses. Responsibilities include training and supervision of staff and assisting the Chief Engineer with planning and scheduling maintenance.

Chief Engineers are responsible for the whole maintenance team and need to have at least 5 years experience plus management or supervisory experience. The role includes budgeting, hangar and stock control as well as supervision and training of staff.

The working environment for engineers can be a basic or well equipped hangar and it will involve working with local staff and staff from other countries. Occasionally work may need to be done in the field. Aircraft maintained include Cessna 206, 210, 208, PC-12. Engines include TCM 10-520, 10-550, PT6A-114, 67. MAF programmes operate EASA standards and systems.

Avionics Engineers need to hold an ICAO based licence as a minimum standard. Responsibilities include installation and maintenance of avionics in the shop and on the aircraft. Avionics manufacturers courses may be required depending on the role. Resposibilities may include maintenance of HF radio ground station equipment.

Engineers who are not yet at licensed stage can apply to join MAF UK's training scheme which provides training in the USA for 36 months to gain FAA license status and placement for at least 2 terms (8 years) in an MAF programme in East Africa.
