MAF flights are taking food and medical supplies and aid workers to Pibor in South Sudan as part of the relief effort following the inter-ethnic violence last week.
The situation has now calmed and residents who had fled are returning to the town. However, many require medical attentiion and are more dependent on food support from aid agencies.
MAF is working closely with WHO, Medair and Africa Inland Church in bringing urgent relief.
An estimated 150 people were killed during the clashes between the Nuer and Murle, the culmunation of several months of insecurity between the people groups. Large numbers of people fled for their lives.
'In my opinion,' writes our Kenya Country Director Alan Sully, 'the situation in South Sudan is at least as difficult and demanding as the famine, which incidentally is still continuing.'
