Missionary medical staff in Wamena,
Papua called MAF with an urgent request to fly a 15-year-old boy to hospital in Timika. The boy, Yali, had a bad case of tuberculosis and the staff hoped he would be able to receive a much-needed operation.
Pilot Dennis Bergstrazer collected Yali, his father and a nurse, Sister Yapina, and took them to Timika.
The hospital decided that Yali didn't need an operation and he is now eating and making excellent progress.
Dennis was able to fly Yali and the nurse back to Wamena where he continues to make a full recovery.
