Cessna 182: from Europe to Africa

MAF pilots Garth Pederson and Nate Birkemo flew MAF's first Cessna 182Q aircraft from Seppe in the Netherlands to Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo.

The aircraft is fitted with an SMA engine that burns jet fuel. This is important as Avgas, which our Cessna 206 aircraft use, is becoming increasingly expensive and scarce in many of our operations. If the Cessna 182 which MAF is trialling in our western DRC operation is a viable alternative, then it could reduce the flying costs by 40%.

The story of Garth and Nate's six-day journey to Africa can be found in our latest magazine, Flying for Life. To sign up to receive our magazine, click here.
